Haydn Hollis adds further spice to Chesterfield and Notts County derby

Haydn Hollis has ensured there will be added spice to Notts County's derby with Chesterfield next season after he signed for the Spireites on a permanent deal.

The centre-back has signed a one-year contract at the Pro-Act after enjoying an excellent season on loan from Forest Green Rovers last term.

He will rejoin former Magpies boss John Sheridan who was eager to get the defender to put pen to paper after some impressive performances in the heart of the Chesterfield backline.

It means Hollis now line-up against the Magpies next season having come up through the club's academy before going on to play for the first team in more than 130 games.

The centre-back said he was thrilled  to seal his move and says he ignored interest from elsewhere.

"I’m delighted to be signing here,” said Hollis.

“I really enjoyed last year, especially the second half of it and hopefully we can take that into the new season.

“There was a little bit of interest from elsewhere but I didn’t look into it, as soon as the manager said he wanted to keep me on I wanted to stay here.

“It’s a great football club, it’s a big football club.”

With Sheridan having been sacked by Notts in January 2017, Hollis' arrival at Chesterfield means next season's clash between the sides will be one of the most anticipated fixtures of the National League campaign.
