With the weather starting to warm up, hay fever sufferers are being urged to take steps to ease their symptoms.
Experts at Online-Bedrooms.co.uk told the ECHO how keeping the window open at night can make hay fever symptoms worse. Around one in five people in the UK suffer from hay fever, meaning millions are set to be hit by grass pollen in the next few months.
While many are pleased to see the weather finally get warm again, it can be tricky getting to sleep at night without opening the window.

But those suffering from hay fever are being warned that opening their window at night could worsen symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath and itchy eyes. This can cause many allergen sufferers to wake up feeling grotty and tired due to a disturbed night’s sleep.
Instead, experts advise placing a thin bed sheet, which can be purchased for £3 from Asda, over the windows so no cracks of light are coming through. This can help stop the room from getting too hot overnight, without having to open the windows.
They also suggest using an energy-efficient fan, silk bedding - which has anti-allergen properties - and a damp towel which can quickly cool you down if placed on your forehead for around 10 minutes.
