Hawks’ Trae Young to Undergo Surgery for Torn Finger Ligament

The Atlanta Hawks will be operating without star point guard Trae Young for at least one month.

The Hawks announced Sunday that Young suffered a tear of the radical collateral ligament in the fifth finger of his left hand during Atlanta’s 123–121 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday. 

Young is scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, which is sometime around March 24. Atlanta will have 12 regular-season games remaining if he is re-evaluated that day.

The Atlanta Hawks are expecting to be without star point guard Trae Young for at least four weeks due to an injured finger ligament on his left hand.

In 51 games this season, Young is averaging 26.4 points and 10.8 assists in 36.5 minutes per contest. Young was named to his third All-Star squad this season. He recorded five points and seven assists in last Sunday’s All-Star Game.

The Hawks (24–32) currently hold the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference, the final play-in tournament position. They return to the floor Sunday to host the Orlando Magic (32–25) at State Farm Arena at 7 p.m. ET.
