Glaswegians dumping off their rubbish at the recycling centre yesterday were greeted by a surprise visitor in the form of a hawk.
Local artist Grace (@amazingraceart) came across the unexpected sight at Shieldhall on Wednesday, with the hawk sitting on his perch and surveying the scene as people passed through.
The beautiful Harris's hawk is understood to be kept by one of the Glasgow City Council staff who was working at the centre.
Sharing a video of the surprise meeting on Twitter, Grace, who understandably originally thought the hawk may have been a dummy, commented: "This has made my day.
"I was dropping off some things at the recycling centre #Glasgow and was amazed to see this magnificent Harris Hawk sitting on its perch.
"The kind keeper let me have a close encounter.
"You don’t expect to see a #birdofprey on your visit to the local recycling centre! Beautiful creature".
What a beautiful bird indeed - certainly the last thing you'd expect to see on a visit to the dump! Have you ever seen anything similar? Let us know in the comments.
