Hawaii Telescope: $1.4bn project faces stiff opposition

The governor of Hawaii, David Ige, has agreed to negotiate with protesters over the construction of a giant telescope.

The $1.4bn project is being built on a mountain that is considered one of the world's best viewing platforms.

But many indigenous Hawaiians also consider it sacred and have been blocking access to the site for almost two weeks.
