Hawaii: residents warned over Kilauea volcano fumes

There has been a small eruption at Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, producing an ash plume that reached about two kilometres.

Officials are warning people to stay inside to avoid dangerous clouds of acid fumes, which are being spread by the wind.

Kilauea has been exuding hot lava for weeks now, destroying dozens of homes and displacing thousands of residents.

Al Jazeera's Andy Gallacher reports.
