'Having human hand grenade Liz Truss as Prime Minister would be a win for Labour'

Liz Truss versus Rishi Sunak is a contest made in heaven... for Labour.

Both have more baggage than a Heathrow carousel. She’s the Johnson continuity candidate, a vacuous chancer who would be out of her depth in a puddle.

He’s the moneybags Chancellor who hiked taxes to 1940s levels while his family avoided their fair share. Penny Mordaunt was the rival Labour feared.

Truss looked like a frightened rabbit in TV debates. She is economically illiterate – her ignorance and tax cut promises were laughed at by experts. The one-time Liberal Democrat who backed abolition of the monarchy and was a Remainer in 2016 is always blowing with the wind.

Dressing like Thatcher and posing in a tank doesn’t make the Instagram Minister another Iron Lady.

Instead, it highlights the superficiality of a woman nicknamed the “human hand grenade” by long-suffering civil servants. Her shoddy trade deals sold out British farmers.

While nobody who heard her bizarre speech about cheese could think she is the full picnic.

The Opposition are devising plans to take out Sunak if he wins the Tory ballot. But Labour will be hoping Truss wins as she would be the gift who keeps on giving to Starmer.
