'Haven't a clue' – Ipswich Town boss fumes over League One situation with Bristol Rovers waiting for news

Ipswich Town boss Paul Lambert has fumed about the uncertainty surrounding the end of the League One season.

While the Premier League and Championship are set to return next month and League Two clubs have already voted to end the season due to the coronavirus crisis, League One teams have been left in limbo.

The majority are expected to vote in favour of ending the season and using a points per game calculation to determine the league table in the coming days after crunch talks this week, but several clubs – particularly those chasing a playoff spot like Lambert’s Tractor Boys – want to play on.

Bristol Rovers were due to play Lambert’s side on March 14, but just days before the game was called off as social distancing measures were implemented.

And almost three months on, the 50-year-old is annoyed clubs in League One are lacking any semblance of clarity on the way forward.

“The uncertainty’s incredible,” he told talkSPORT on Thursday.

“It’s the only league I think not to know what’s happening, I don’t think anybody does.

“It’s a decision - what are we’re doing, are we playing, are we not playing, are we going for next season? I haven’t a clue.

“We can’t do anything at the minute, we’ve not even started back training, we’ve not even been given a start date. You can’t have a training date if you haven’t got a start date.

“The way it’s been going on I don’t know if anybody knows what’s happening with it, everybody’s feeling the same, other than the Premier League and the Championship, they seem to know what they’re doing, but the rest of us they don’t really know.

“Are we playing? Are we not playing? Just somebody tell us what we’re doing and I think everybody has to abide by that but until we know that I think this is going to keep going on.”
