Haven reopening Welsh sites ahead of English parks - but people from England and Scotland can't go yet

Haven has announced it is reopening most of its Welsh sites 10 days ahead of those in England - but only people from Wales can initially visit.

The holiday giant confirmed in February that sites in England would reopen on April 12 in line with the easing of UK Government restrictions.

In Wales, First Minister Mark Drakeford is this week expected to confirm self contained accommodation in Wales can open from Saturday March 27.

That has seen Haven announce when its nine sites in Wales will reopen.

They have announced an April 2 opening date for most parks - 10 days ahead of the parks in England.

But they will only be available to guests in Wales initially as under UK Government rules people in England can't travel for overnight stays until April 12 while Welsh Government will also initially have a Wales-wide travel policy.

Hafan y Mor near Pwllheli will remain closed until April 12.

A spokeswoman said: "Following the announcement by the First Minister in terms of Wales’ roadmap out of lockdown, we are pleased to announce our plans for reopening our parks across Wales.

"We are delighted that the majority of our Welsh parks will reopen to guests from Friday 2 April.

"Due to travel restrictions affecting the rest of the UK, we will only be able to welcome guests from Wales at this time.

"As a result of the above restrictions we will regrettably have to cancel breaks from guests living in England, Scotland and Ireland for those due to arrive prior to 12 April.

"We are contacting these guests directly with regard to the options available to them. We look forward to welcoming them back to Haven later in the year.

"Our Hafan y Mor park at Pwllheli will reopen to holidaymakers from 12 April.

"Due to the size of the park and the timing of the announcement from the Welsh Government, we will need some additional time to ensure we can offer guests the holiday experience they know and enjoy at Haven.

"For guests who were due to arrive at Hafan y Mor between 2 and 12 April from other parts of Wales, we will be able to provide them with alternate accommodation at our nearby Greenacres Holiday Park and look forward to welcoming them there.

"We would like to thank our guests for their patience and continued understanding whilst we work through this as quickly as we can. We will continue to provide guest with information via our website and social media channels."
