Haven announces reopening of Wales holiday parks in time for Easter holidays

Haven has confirmed it will be reopening its Welsh holiday parks from April 2 - just in time for the Easter holidays.

The news comes after the Welsh First Minister, Mark Drakeford, announced that the stay local order in Wales would be lifted from March 27 and allow for stays in self-contained accommodation.

Due to ongoing travel restrictions across the UK, Haven has said that it will "only be able to welcome guests from Wales at this time".

Anyone who was due to travel from England, Scotland or Ireland before April 12 will have their break cancelled. The holiday parks firm said it is contacting affected customers to offer them a range of options - previously these have included rebooking, credit for a holiday later this year, or a full no-quibble refund.

Not all of the holiday parks in Wales will reopen on April 2 - the company's Hafan y Mor park at Pwllheli is due to welcome back guests a little later from April 12.

Haven says that this is due to the size of the park "and the timing of the announcement from the Welsh Government" which means it needs "additional time" to ready it for holidaymakers.

As a result, those who were booked between April 2-12 at Hafan y Mor can opt for alternate accommodation at the nearby Greenacres Holiday Park.

The Welsh locations will be the first of its holiday parks to reopen to holidaymakers this summer.

Currently Haven's spots in England are closed until April 12, when self-contained accommodation is due to be allowed to reopen as part of the country's lockdown roadmap. (England touring breaks are cancelled until May 17).

Meanwhile, its parks in Scotland are currently closed up to and including April 25.
