Have your say: Should free lateral flow testing be made available?

With rising cases of Covid-19 across the region, should free lateral flow testing be made available?

Positive Covid-19 tests have risen by more than 50% in Liverpool City Region. The latest data from Public Health England shows that the region recorded 2,678 cases in the week ending June 20, which is 941 more cases than the previous week.

From April 1, free Covid-19 rapid lateral flow tests were no longer available to the majority of people in England. Although pharmacies and supermarkets still stock lateral flow tests online and in-store, they come at a cost starting at £1.75.

Some people can still qualify for the free rapid lateral flow tests from the NHS. This includes people with a health condition, which means you’re eligible for COVID-19 treatment, people going into hospital or those working in the NHS or in adult social care all qualify.

But should free testing be available for all?
