Have you seen this man-cake? Police target 'unsavoury' characters on Shrove Tuesday

British police have used Pancake Day to alert the public to a number of suspects they want to "crepe up on".

Surrey Police shared graphics of suspects' faces superimposed on a stack of pancakes, imploring the public to help police "whisk them away".

And the puns didn't end there.

Police followed up the pancake posts with "batter" images of suspects so the public could see them more clearly.

In one post, asking about a man wanted in relation to a series of burglaries, police said: "We would like to establish if he is a crepe-tomaniac?!"

Punters responded in kind.

"With any luck you'll catch some unsavoury characters," one said.

Shrove Tuesday is celebrated by some Christian communities by eating pancakes and other fatty foods, before fasting for Lent.

The pancake art was credited to fictional artist "Phillipe De Pan".
