Have you heard of 'door jewelry'? It's the affordable, characterful trend that can instantly give your porch more personality

The exterior of a home with a large porch decorated with lots of plants and some plants in rattan planters.

When you read the word 'jewelry', you probably envision earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or other small accessories that can be worn to complete an outfit. However, the jewelry we are focusing on here refers to the accessories that you can add to your home that add that finishing touch, the final flourish.

And this fall, it's all about 'door jewelry'.

'Door jewelry' refers to front door ideas that enliven the design of your main entrance – the decorative embellishments that give a front door the character it deserves. In a recent Instagram post, Shelby of @prettyinthepines, introduced this charming new name for door accessories and shared the small updates she made to make her own front door look less bare and more collected.

Just like a shimmering pair of earrings and a matching necklace can make an outfit significantly more interesting, door jewelry can make a tremendous impact on a home's exterior – not only can it elevate the appearance of the front door, but it can enhance the look of the entire porch, too. And since we're all about outdoor decorating ideas that make exterior spaces look warm, welcoming, and full of character this fall, the door jewelry idea is certainly one to try.

In her video, Shelby transformed her front door to one with personality and charm by adding door jewelry – she chose a brass door knocker and an oval-shaped welcome sign to complement the decorative kick plate at the foot of the door.

Although usually quite small, door jewelry details can make a big impact. They make a front door look more elevated and personal, of course, but they also stylize the porch, making the whole scene look like a curated and elegant display. Door jewelry can make the whole porch look more expensive.

While door jewelry can benefit your front door and front porch any time of year, it's a key feature for fall, because fall is the season of the front porch! From sitting on your porch on a brisk early-autumn evening to welcoming trick-or-treaters in late October, the fall is a time of year when the porch takes center stage. So below, find all of the door jewelry you need to enhance the look of your front door this fall.

Adding door jewelry can certainly enhance your home's appearance this fall, but be warned – too much door jewelry can easily turn sour. You certainly don't want the exterior of your home to look dated, especially during a season that places so much emphasis on the front porch. So remember – everything (including door jewelry) is best in moderation.
