Celebrity Love Island has already given us Paul Danan, now it is to give us a live TV advert.
ITV is to show a live commercial promoting online dating site Match.com. This is highly unusual because all adverts have to be cleared beforehand by the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre. ITV will get round this problem by scripting the live ad in advance. Obviously this means there is still room for it to go wrong, but here's hoping.
ITV claims this is a "media first".
Anyway, this has sparked a huge debate in our office about whether there has ever been a live TV advert. Have you ever seen one? In Britain or elsewhere? Back when all television was live, what was done with the adverts then?
Thoughts on a postcard, please (well, actually, just below this blog).
