Have you ever dreamt of creating theme park rides? This could be the job for you

Fancy designing the theme park rides of the future?

An Ilkeston company is offering someone that opportunity as it looks to recruit a new mechanical design engineer.

Garmendale, based at Manners Industrial Estate, works with Alton Towers, Legoland, Twinlakes, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventure.

Its job advert states: "We're looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer to join our team in designing rides for theme parks and attractions around the world.

"Ideally qualified to degree, HND or time served as a mechanical engineer, you must have experience of using Solidworks and AutoCad,backed up with a sound mechanical engineering knowledge."

Responsibilities include dealing directly with clients around the world, design of machinery and parts for new and existing rides, and problem solving as part of a team to overcome design challenges.

Personal attributes include 'be flexible and able to smile - we're in the business of fun'.

The ideal candidate must also be within commuting distance of their UK head office in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

A spokesman for the company said the pay is dependent on how much experience the successful applicant has.

Some of the projects the company have worked on include the Dragon Falls log flume refurbishment at Chessington World of Adventure and the Robin Hood ride at Sundown Adventureland.
