Have you bought petrol today?

Rumours of a petrol shortage have led to queues at service stations as drivers seek to fill up just in case.

Some petrol statsions are believed to have closed and others may be running short of supplies, in part due to the shortage of HGV drivers in the UK.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister has denied there is a fuel shortage and advised: "People should continue to shop for fuel as usual."

However he did acknowledge there were were "issues facing many industries across the UK, and not just in terms of HGV drivers".

This is not the first we have seen of a run on shops in recent years, with the beginning of the first Covid lockdown memorably seeing people stockpiling toilet rolls and pasta.
