Parts of northern England already hit by the Boxing Day floods will see heavy rain and gale-force winds on Wednesday. Amber weather warnings - the Met Office’s “be prepared” level - are in place for rain in Strathclyde; Central, Tayside and Fife; Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian and Borders; and North West England for Wednesday. Yellow weather warnings - denoting “be aware” - for rain have been issued for the rest of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, North East England and Yorkshire and Humber.
