'Have the last laugh' - Bolton Wanderers fans react to Tranmere Rovers losing play-off semi-final

Bolton Wanderers will be joined by either Morecambe or Newport County in League One next season as the line-up for the League Two play-off final was confirmed.

The Shrimps booked their place at Wembley at the end of the month with a 3-2 victory on aggregate over the Prenton Park side.

Derek Adams' men will be joined by the South Wales side after a 5-4 win on aggregate over Forest Green Rovers, following an enthralling encounter at the New Lawn where the hosts won 4-3 on the day but defeat overall in the semi-final.

It means the two sides face one another at Wembley at the end of May to decide which team will join Wanderers, Cheltenham Town and Cambridge United in League One next season.

Tranmere did the double over Wanderers in League Two with a 3-0 victory at the University of Bolton Stadium and 2-1 win at Prenton Park.

However, it is Bolton who will be playing in League One next season, while the Super White Army have another campaign in the fourth tier of English football in store in 2021/22.

There is rivalry between the two clubs and Wanderers fans were more than happy to point out on Twitter following Tranmere's defeat yesterday that the Wirral side have ended the season with no rewards despite picking up six points against Ian Evatt's men.
