Have the bookies made a mistake on Tottenham's Champions League hopes?

Tottenham will have the Champions League qualification as their number one priority this season as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first full season at the North London club.

When Mourinho was appointed to replace Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs were 14th and the Special One had to deal with a number of injuries from the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Despite this, Mourinho guided Tottenham to get Europa League football this season and finish above arch-rivals Arsenal.  Not only that, his Premier League record is impressive.

Since his appointment, the Portuguese manager has achieved 45 points in the league - only Man City, Liverpool and Man United have a better record.

So it may come as some of a surprise that online bookies thepools.com have priced them at 14/5 to finish in the top four.

Considering the two obvious choices - Man City (1/25) and Liverpool (1/16) - are almost guaranteed to get the top two slots then there are two Champions League places up for grabs.

Surprisingly, Man United and Chelsea are the ones preferred by thepools.com at 4/11 and 6/10 respectively. United is understandable considering they have been impressive of late under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but Frank Lampard's side seems the surprised package.

If the league stood since Mourinho's appointment, Chelsea would be 7th with 40 points and behind the likes of Wolves and Southampton too.

It definitely seems a surprising move by the bookmakers and one for many who like a bet or two should really consider.
