Have The Big Brother Housemates Been Using A Secret Code Word To Discuss Unaired Incidents?

Big Brother

We’re coming to the pointy end of Big Brother Australia 2025 and viewers have just clocked that a secret code word has been used among the housemates throughout the season that you may not have noticed.

In a video shared to Reddit, an eagle-eyed viewer points out that the housemates have been using the word ‘flamingo’ as code.

Have a watch below:

“Big Brother is telling housemates not to talk about Coco losing her shit at the house meeting,” the viewer wrote.

In the comments section, the fan elaborated on what they reckon ‘flamingo’ is code for: “They didn’t show it on the livestream or the daily. In the video which I had to crop for privacy reasons, he gesticulated that Coco was inches from his face yelling in it”.

Another viewer who had also noticed the code word then chimed in, writing: “The housemates created the code word on (I think) the first Saturday after being told off for essentially talking about interesting stuff on a production day off. It then morphed in to a word they would use when they were uncomfortable with a conversation. Big Brother just adopted it”.

The OP added: “Anytime Abi or the house meeting comes up. The cams go off or audio muted when these topics come up too.”

Another fan said they “heard them refer to Saturday as a Flamingo day meaning, ‘Don’t talk about anything camera worthy because we’re not taping for the show’.”

The Big Brother livestream has been quite a contentious subject this season, with controversial topics being raised by the housemates, some of which have been filtered out, but some have made their way through.

It’s also been debated whether or not the show is actually live, with a Ten spokesperson clarifying with the following statement: “It has been such a thrill to give OG Big Brother fans exactly what they want: a return to live shows on the Dreamworld stage.

“Live nomination episodes are hosted by Mel Tracina in real time. To cut to the juicy bit (the housemates’ reactions!), Diary Room nominations are shown as a package in show. Nominations are lengthy and would run over the show’s 60-minute duration otherwise.”
