Have passport delays affected your holiday plans?

Queues outside HM Passport Office in Liverpool have become a regular sight, as hopeful holidaymakers attempt to sort their passport problems.

In recent weeks, the ECHO has spoken to some of the people waiting in line. From stolen passports to month-long delays, there have been many reasons why people have had to face the queues.

It is expected that 9.5 million passport requests will be made in 2022. This compares to just four million being processed in 2020 and a further five million in 2021.

Home Office minister Kevin Foster said his advice remains unchanged and anyone heading overseas this summer should submit new passport applications and renewals as soon as possible. But he added in the House of Commons: "We are making a range of efforts - staff are working weekends, incentivised overtime - and certainly we're confident we will not need to change the 10-week target."
