Have Nottingham Forest found a surprise new number 10?

When Nottingham Forest signed Cafu from Olympiacos there was no suggestion he could play as a number 10.

The 27-year-old arrived at the City Ground last month with a reputation as a powerful defensive minded midfield player, however, he replaced Luke Freeman after 65 minutes of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.

Afterwards, Reds manager Chris Hughton explained his decision to give Cafu a chance in the role.

"He's a different option, as an attacking midfield player," he said.

"He hasn't had too many opportunities.

"He came in just before I came in, so I'm still getting to know him.

"But he's showed well in training and shown some of his ability. I just felt in that number 10 position, he would be able to provide something, in what was a very tight and difficult game for anybody in that position.”

Meanwhile, another Forest number 10, Joao Carvalho, played his part in an unusual game for his loan club Almeria at the weekend.

Opponents Girona had three players sent off, but Almeria were unable to break the deadlock as it finished 0-0, despite Carvalho hitting the post.
