Have Nottingham Forest blown away the competition to bag Tiago Silva?

Tiago Silva is at the top of Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi’s wanted list – and it looks as though the Reds haven’t been the midfielder’s only suitors.

The highly-rated former Portugal Under-21 international is expected to sign for the Championship side from Feirense next week, if all goes well.

Lamouchi has identified the need to add some more technically gifted players to his ranks, as well as a little more pace, after assessing his squad during a pre-season training camp in Spain.

And Silva has emerged as a primary target.

So has Forest’s interest turned the 26-year-old’s head? After all, the Benfica academy product has seemingly been a man in demand.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Silva, who has two years left on his contract, was set for a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, with his club to be “duly rewarded financially”.

They say he has also had admirers both in his homeland and abroad, following a season in which he bagged five goals and weighed in with nine assists.

It is not clear yet whether the Reds would sign Silva on a loan or permanent deal, but they to secure his signature.

With the player apparently having had other options, have Forest jumped in and blown away any competition?
