Have Elon Musk and Grimes named their baby X Æ A-12? And if so what does it mean?

Elon Musk revealed earlier today that he and girlfriend Grimes had welcomed a baby boy, with the SpaceX CEO sharing a picture of himself holding his newborn son.

Musk, who revealed Grimes and the baby were “all good” on Twitter, also shared the baby’s name - which in typical Musk/Grimes style is definitely unusual.

After a fan tweeted at Musk “we need the name we literally need it”, Musk delivered in the strangest way possible - sharing that the baby was called “X Æ A-12 Musk.”

A number of fans questioned how on earth the name should be pronounced. One Reddit user, spotted by Mashable, gave a plausible explanation.

They wrote, “the name for the ligature Æ is "ash".. so in the name, it may be pronounced that way... and the Lockheed A-12 was part of the Archangel internal design effort.”

“So maybe they're thinking: X Ash Archangel Musk,” they continued.

Others also speculated that Sasha or Sascha could be the name of Musk’s son, while others on Twitter made jokes about how to spell and pronounce the name.

Some also appeared to be exhausted by the name, sharing memes reacting to Musk's revelation.

Besides the name and birth announcement, Musk also shared an hilarious picture of his son's very first face filter picture - which showed his newborn covered in fake tattoos.

Musk and Grimes have been dating for the past two years, though his new son X Æ A-12 Musk is his sixth child (and his first with Grimes).
