Have a picnic in Chiang Mai

A new picnic-concept restaurant, titled Waiting For May, will open its door this Sunday at ORI9IN gourmet organic farm in Chiang Mai province.

ORI9IN farm is a joint venture between Banyan Tree Group and acclaimed chef-turned-sustainable farmer James Noble, the proprietor of the Boutique Farmers Pak Nam Pran.

The Agro-tourism project leverages the post-Covid quest for better health and wellbeing and welcomes visitors to enjoy fresh farm produce and nature in a safe socially distanced setting across the 500-rai gardenscape.

"Waiting For May serves field-to-fork sustainable dishes," explains the English chef-patron. "The farm observes provenance and a zero-waste kitchen. Everything here centres around permaculture, low-carbon, sustainable farming to produce heartfelt food."

Meals served at Waiting For May are available for dine-in at the restaurant or as takeaway for a picnic on the farmland. Dishes include barbecue brined duck breast with pumpkin som tam; stuffed chicken wings with Chiang Mai sausage and chilli dip; buffalo burger; and Greek salad with fresh figs, farm feta cucumber and grilled lemons. The picnic meal comes in a box with a picnic mat, wooden cutlery and paper plates.

Families can also rent land, bond over farming and enjoy the harvest of vegetable and fruit salad, delivered to their home weekly. The farm's community garden provides complimentary vegetable harvesting to villagers daily.

Open Friday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. The farm gates closes at 5pm.
