Have a laugh, have a Ball: Part 2

In one episode of The Simpsons, Bart and Milhouse are laughing at something on Bart's computer when Homer strolls past the door and asks, "What are you laughing at? If you say Jimmy Fallon, I'll know you're lying!" Nothing if not divisive, Fallon's incessant corpsing on Saturday Night Live has delighted and disgusted fans of the show in equal numbers.

An insecure pretty boy, and nervy performer at best, he's a strange choice for the wildly popular TV series. But anyone doubting his prowess as a genuinely funny, surreal comedian should get hold of his 2002 Grammy-nominated comedy album The Bathroom Wall, where he showcases, among other things, his bizarre obsession with troll dolls, and brilliant abilities as an impersonator. His pitch-perfect Robin Williams is remarkable for not just capturing the man himself, but Williams' many characters, too.

In our second exclusive podcast from The Secret Policeman's Ball, Stephen Merchant talks to Jimmy Fallon about the differences in American and British slang (which may contain rude words). Plus there's more live clips from the Ball itself.*

* And if you're looking for more doses of Mr Merchant's comic talents, you've come to the right place.
