Haunting and eerie abandoned school where desks and PE equipment still sit

This creepy footage captured on camera by an urban explorer shows a historic school which has been left abandoned.

Margaret Beavan school on Almonds Green, in West Derby, shut down in 2004 and was left derelict.

The grade II listed building which dates back to the 19th century has since fallen into disrepair.

The desks where pupils once sat are now littered with smashed school equipment and upturned chairs.

Fire crews were called to the derelict school in May 2018, after flames ripped through the building.

Photos taken at the time, show the large fire bursting from the derelict building and thick black smoke billowing.

Urban explorer Ian Radcliffe, 35, from Knowsley, took a look around the historic school recently, with his son and two friends, after they gained entry through a basement window.

In the video, the group can be seen making their way down the creepy corridors and through the rooms of the building.

Inside one room, posters and an original plan of the school grounds are still stapled to the walls.

While in another, a TV set sits upturned next to desks and smashed school equipment which is scattered across the floor.

A PE climbing frame also still remains in the room, which the urban explorers were keen to climb during their visit.

Ian told the ECHO:"Once a month we go out to find an abandoned building somewhere.

"We've done quite a few including the Camelot theme park, Mossley Manor, the abandoned stables at Childwall, and the Bury FC ground.

"We knew nobody had been in the Margaret Beavan school in Almonds Green for a while.

"We'd been trying for a long time to get in and went back every week. We finally managed to gain entry through a basement window."

Ian added: "I was surprised at how it was still in such good condition.

"The last time it was used was for a CBBC programme called Young Dracula, and there were still props left lying around.

"It was well worth going inside. It was quite spooky inside."
