The much-anticipated game by the world-famous indie developer Eric Barone (ConcerenedApe), "Haunted Chocolatier," is not releasing anytime soon, and while this has been made clear before, its timeline has been recently clarified.
In a new interview featuring ConcernedApe, it has been revealed that the wait for the standalone indie simulation game would take longer than expected.
The game's development has been delayed for three years as Barone had to make way for "Stardew Valley's" update, but it has since resumed last year, with the developer now focused on his new game.
'Haunted Chocolatier' Release May Take Longer Than Expected
A recent podcast from TigerBellyChips with host Bobby Lee featured Barone, and here, they discussed the future of "Stardew Valley," including the next projects under his belt. One of the games that was highlighted in the podcast is the "Haunted Chocolatier," the project that Barone has been working on for almost five years now.
The biggest takeaway from the podcast is bad news for all fans of the upcoming title as it was revealed by Barone that the game's release would take longer than expected.
Bad News For All 'Haunted Chocolatier' Fans
Lee and the rest of the podcast's hosts asked Barone if the "Haunted Chocolatier" would come out in the next five years or so, with ConcernedApe replying with "I hope so." ConcernedApe then went on to say that the project still needs many things to be done in its development before he can finally make it available to the market.
That being said, there are still no specific timelines for "Haunted Chocolatier's" release, and Barone did not provide any update on where he is in the game's development or how much is the progress already.
Here's How Long You Need to Wait for 'Haunted Chocolatier'
Barone is expected to take around half a decade before the title is released, which means fans may have to wait until 2030 for the game. However, even this timeline is not a sure thing based on Barone's answer to the podcasters' questions as the developer did not give any concrete information about it.
It is likewise still possible that the game will be released before that, but there are no guarantees. It is important to note that Barone only revealed in mid-2024 that work has been resumed on "Haunted Chocolatier" following a hiatus for this project to work on "Stardew Valley's" update 1.6.
Moreover, it is worth noting that ConcernedApe is creating the game without any external help, with "Haunted Chocolatier" to be developed by Barone himself, similar to what he did for "Stardew Valley."
