Haugh of Urr's Jo Muir finishes 14th in Olympic modern pentathlon in Tokyo

Haugh of Urr’s Jo Muir came home 14th place in the Olympic modern pentathlon.

The 26-year-old was roared home by supporters in the beer garden at The Laurie Arms in Haugh of Urr, with parents Susan and Andy joined by family and friends to watch the action unfold at Milton Park Farm.

Jo was making her Olympic debut in Tokyo for Team GB, with team-mate Kate French storming home to take gold.

The action began on Thursday with the fencing, Jo’s record of 13 wins and 22 defeats seeing her in 33rd position.

Things resumed on Friday in the pool, her time of 2:14.52 moving her up to 15th.

It was back to the fencing after that for the bonus round, Jo’s results seeing her back in 31st.

But she put in a great display in the riding, picking up just one penalty to move up to 21st for the laser run.

And another great display saw her improve to finish 14th, little more than a minute behind team-mate and gold medal winner Kate French.
