Haugh of Urr's Jo Muir finishes 12th in mixed relay of Pentathlon World Cup Final

Jo Muir took 12th place in the mixed relay of the Pentathlon World Cup Final in Tokyo on Sunday.

The Haugh of Urr athlete and Pentathlon GB team-mate Sam Curry had taken gold in the previous World Cup in Prague.

However, they had a difficult day at the Olympic Test event and were unable to replicate their previous form.

The day started in the pool and the pair made a strong start, recording a time of 1:58.27. However, the fencing hall proved to be their undoing as they ended with a record of nine victories and 25 defeats leaving them 17th overall.

There were more problems in the riding discipline as the second fence caused problems for almost every team. The Brits suffered two refusals but as other nations fared worse, their score of 253 saw them move up to 14th ahead of the laser run, where they picked up two more places to finish 14th.

The next action for Pentathlon GB is the European Championships at Bath University in August, where a total of 16 Olympic places will be up for grabs.
