Haugh of Urr and Hardgate turned out in force to cheer on Olympian Jo Muir.
The Laurie Arms beer garden was the place to be as proud locals watched the 26-year-old compete in the modern pentathlon.
And they also got to celebrate a gold medal for Team GB as Jo’s team-mate Kate French finished well clear of her rivals.
However, the biggest cheer of the day was saved for Jo – from Milton Park Farm just outside Haugh of Urr – as she crossed the line a fine 14th in a field of 36 athletes.
Laurie Arms owner Sandra Yates treated locals to a great spread of rolls, cakes and scones in return for donations to help ensure Santa’s sleigh can make the trip to the village at Christmas with a fantastic total of £280 raised.

Jo’s pals, up and coming athletes and people from across the Stewartry braved the weather to watch the action on a big screen in the beer garden – and one family holidaying in the area delayed their return home to soak up the atmosphere.
Flags, banners and face paint were out in abundance, meaning there was no chance of the rain dampening the spirits.
Sandra said: “It was great that everybody turned out. It is a lovely community and it is nice we are able to do things like this, especially after Covid.
“All the villagers came out with farmers and people from the surrounding area who have known Jo for years and we were able to have it in the outside area.
“We’re just delighted for Jo – she’s 14th in the world so it is absolutely brilliant. Everyone is dead chuffed and they all cheered on Kate too.”
Going into the final event – the laser run which combines running and shooting – Jo was in 21st overall, the crowd giving a huge cheer when her name was displayed in the overall rankings.
With the cameras focusing on the battle at the front – comfortably won by Team GB’s Kate French – supporters had to wait until Jo crossed the line to catch a glimpse of her on the screen, a huge roar greeting her 14th place finish.

And the good results continued for Team GB the following day with Joe Choong winning the men’s event.
Jo’s parents Susan and Andy were joined by family and friends as they watched the action unfold at home at Milton Park.
Susan, who was travelling this week to meet her daughter on her return to the UK, said: “It was a long day – our friends arrived at 6.30am to watch it!
“It was exciting and it was an amazing result for British pentathlon.
“The support we’ve had has been incredible and we’d like to thank everyone.”
