A man and a woman have been charged in connection with an Easter raid at the Hatton Garden Safety Deposit firm in London.

The pair have been accused of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act, Scotland Yard has said.

Brenn Walters, aka Ben Perkins, 43, and Terri Robinson, 35, both from Enfield, are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 27 August.

A further nine people were already charged in connection with the investigation, and were remanded in custody after appearing in court in June. They are set to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on 4 September.

Police have also interviewed three other people - a man and two women - under caution as part of the investigation.

Thieves ransacked some 73 safety deposit boxes during the raid over the Easter weekend, leaving with spoils worth millions of pounds.

The culprits broke into the vault and used an enormous drill to bore a hole 20in (51cm) deep, 10in (25cm) high and 18in (46cm) into the vault wall.

Police believe the thieves entered the building through a communal entrance, and disabled the lift in order to climb into the basement.

Scotland Yard has apologised after it was criticised for not following procedures when they were alerted about an intruder alert at the building by a security firm on Good Friday.

However, Flying Squad detectives rejected the suggestion that they were bungling “Keystone Cops”.
