Hatem Abd Elhamed set for Celtic medical as Hapoel Beer Sheva confirm deal agreed

Hatem Abd Elhamed is set to undergo his Celtic medical after Hapoel Beer Sheva confirmed a deal has been agreed.

Record Sport told earlier this week how the Israeli was closing in on a £2million move to the Premiership champions.

He's poised to become Neil Lennon 's fourth summer signing and a replacement for the departed Mikael Lustig.

The 28-year-old will now travel to Glasgow to finalise the transfer.

Hapoel posted a tweet on Saturday announcing the move and thanking Elhamed for his service.

They said: "Hapoel Tadiran Beer Sheva and Celtic signed an agreement to transfer Hatem Elhamid to the Scottish team.

"Hatem will immediately undergo medical examinations and work permit arrangements in Scotland.

"Upon completion of the proceedings, Hatem will officially transfer to Celtic."

Elhamed's arrival will take Celtic's summer spending to around £12m following deals to sign Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli Mbombo and Luca Connell.

The Israel international has predominantly played at right-back but has moved into central defence in recent seasons.

However, it's expected Lennon will task him with filling the void left by Lustig.

Meanwhile, Celtic's right-back options could be further boosted as Danny Simpson prepares to join on-trial.

Simpson won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016 but is now on the hunt for a new club.
