Hatem Abd Elhamed sends Celtic injury message as defender faces more time on the sidelines

Celtic defender Hatem Abd Elhamed has written an emotional message to fans after being ruled-out for another few weeks with injury.

The Israeli full-back joined the Hoops in the summer and has impressed with his performances.

However he hasn't played since the 2-1 win away to Lazio in the Europa League after suffering a groin injury, and a new muscular problem will keep him out for another few weeks.

Elhamed wrote on Instagram: "The thing that hurts me the most in these moments is that I can't do what I love in life, which is to play football and help the team achieve our goals together this season.

"I will do the max again to come back as fast and strong as possible."

Elhamed is with the Celtic squad in Dubai for warm weather training but won't be fit for the Scottish Cup clash with Partick Thistle or the Premiership clash with Kilmarnock.

Manager Neil Lennon confirmed this week: "Elhamed still has a bit of a groin problem. It’s not long term, but it could be a few weeks.

"He sort of jolted his groin and got a reaction. It’s actually not the same injury. It’s lower down. Maybe a couple of weeks.

“He’s been brilliant for me and it’s a bit of a blow, but there’s nothing I can do about it. We have to be patient with it.”
