Hatem Abd Elhamed 'fee agreed' by Celtic as Hoops close in on right back

Celtic have 'agreed a fee' for Hapoel Be'er Sheva right back Hatem Abd Elhamed.

The Israeli looks set to make the move to Glasgow as Neil Lennon tries to solve his right back problem.

Kristoffer Ajer has been starting at full back for Celtic in their opening two Champions League qualifiers with Anthony Ralston left on the bench.

Celtic don't have any other right backs with Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan all departing at the end of last season.

But now they have agreed a fee, believed to be worth €2million, according to Israeli newspapers.

SportsWalla report that the initial fee will then rise by €300,000 should Celtic reach the group stage of the Champions League.

Elhamed has previously played abroad twice before when he had a loan spell at Dinamo Bucharest and then a failed move to Belgium where he played just once for Gent.

He returned to Israel with Ashdod before joining Be'er Sheva and his performances there have earned him one cap for Israel, where he replaced Nir Bitton.

Celtic are stepping up their bids for a right back with Danny Simpson also joining on trial.

The former Leicester City defender will join up with the Hoops squad for training next week.
