Hatem Abd Elhamed Celtic boost as star set for Europa League return against Copenhagen

Hatem Abd Elhamed is in line to make his Celtic return in time for Thursday’s Euro showdown against Copenhagen.

The Israeli defender has been stuck in the treatment room since November after suffering a groin injury in the wonder win at Lazio.

He had looked on the comeback trail only to pull up in training during the club’s midwinter trip to Dubai.

But the 28-year-old kicked his first ball in anger during the 4-1 Reserves Cup win over Hibs at Lennonxtown.

Elhamed lasted an hour for Celtic who boasted other first-team squad players such as January signings Patryck Klimala and Ismaila Soro.

Neil Lennon watched the victory from the sidelines and is poised to parachute Elhamed straight into his Europa League squad for the last-32 clash with the Danes.

Celtic hold the advantage against Stale Solbakken’s side thanks to Odsonne Edouard’s away goal in the Parken Stadium last week.
