Hatem Abd Elhamed breaks Celtic transfer silence as departing star makes 'forever and ever' promise

Departing Hatem Abd Elhamed insists Celtic will remain in his heart "forever and ever".

The defender is closing in on a return to Hapoel Be'er Sheva after the Parkhead club agreed to allow him to return home.

Elhamed, separated from his wife and child due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been unable to settle in Scotland since arriving from Be'er Sheva in July 2019.

Parkhead boss Neil Lennon revealed last week a deal had been struck to end the player's Premiership stint.

The 29-year-old landed in Israel on Tuesday night and TV news footage captured and emotional reunion with his young son.

And now, with his Celtic exit close to being finalised, Elhamed's agent Dudu Dahan has released a statement on his behalf.

Elhamed said: " To all Celtic fans, thank you for the support, understanding and love. I will be grateful forever for the privilege of playing for you. Celtic will stay in my heart forever and ever.”

The former Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Ashdod and Gent star is expected to sign a deal with Be'er Sheva, another former club imminently.
