If you’ve ever wanted to anonymously vent about your toxic boss, now’s the time.
Australian Unions have launched a five minute survey about what it’s really like at our jobs, to be used at an upcoming Federal Government Roundtable.
In other words, this is our moment to actually change our circumstances, instead of just complaining to our co-workers (guilty as charged).
Here’s the TL;DR.

So, what’s this survey about?
If you’re not familiar, Australian Unions represent almost two million union members in fighting for better work conditions across the board. They’ve put together a questionnaire which they’ve dubbed the Workplace Truths Survey — think of it as a diss track for micromanaging bosses.
It turns out that Australia’s productivity has flatlined over the last ten years. To most employees, this doesn’t come as a surprise.
@aus.unions Why does "productivity" matter anyway? #work #workers #unions #business #productivity #industrialrelations #workplaces #bosses #boss #ceos #wealthy #wealth #wealthinequality #anotherhashtagforfun #typeheheinthecommentsifyoureadthehashtags ♬ original sound – Aus Unions
“Too many employers have equated productivity with cost-cutting, which has negatively affected the debate around productivity,” Australian Unions Secretary Sally McManus said.
That’s where this survey comes in. Australian Unions are keen to hear from employees (that means you!) to anonymously spill the tea about your work experience. The idea is that it’s treated like a tell-all book — don’t leave anything out, and throw allll the shade. BTW, your name and individual results will be kept private, so don’t worry about your boss finding out.
“For too long, the perspective of workers has been missing,” she said. “This is why we are opening this survey up to all workers to have their say, knowing that their perspective will be represented at the Roundtable and in the national discussion.”
Plus, this survey takes literally five minutes to fill out. Five minutes out of your day to influence a better workforce? There’s no excuse now. Gettttt on it.

Where are my answers actually going?
Australian Unions are going to take your anonymous answers to the August Productivity Roundtable. You might be wondering — what even is that? I thought the same thing. Turns out, it’s not a reference to the fabled King Arthur.
In a nutshell, the August Productivity Roundtable is a part of the Federal Government’s Economic Reform Roundtable. The Treasurer and Ministers will hear from all areas of business about productivity — including Australian Unions, who are representing workers across the board.
Perhaps Prime Minister Anthony Albanese explained it best.
“At Parliament House in August, we will bring together a group of leaders from the business community, the union movement and civil society,” Albo said at The National Press Club of Australia on June 10.
“What we want is a focused dialogue and constructive debate that leads to concrete and tangible actions.”
Will anything actually change?
Considering that 85 per cent of Aussies dislike their jobs and only 15 per cent feel passionately about their careers, something’s gotta give.

When else will you have the chance to tell the government about your dictator boss? Or how you’re scared that AI will steal your job? Or that you can’t get work done if you’re micromanaged every five seconds?
Now’s the time to help incite real change. Opportunities like this are far and few between, so you’ll wanna get those responses in stat.

“Australian Unions will bring the real world experiences of working people to the Roundtable,” McManus said. “For too long, the discussion on productivity has been dominated by economic models and concepts that are often out of step with real life and what actually happens in workplaces across Australia.”
