'Hate this!' - Arsenal fans agree over Gunners' pre-season line-up vs Hibernian

Arsenal fans have been left furious this evening after it was revealed that Willian was selected to start the Gunners’ pre-season clash against Hibernian.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are currently in the midst of a training camp north of the border and are taking on Hibernian at Easter Road before a clash with Scottish champions Rangers at the weekend.

The first line-up ahead of the 2021/22 campaign is a mix of both experienced heads and young players, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang selected from the start, whilst 19-year-old Arthur Okonkwo was trusted between the sticks from the off.

Despite that, it was one name which got Arsenal fans talking and that was Brazilian wideman Willian, who is partnering Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah in attack.

Gunners supporters took to Twitter following the announcement of the team to express their thoughts.

It is certainly a surprise to see Willian included following his underwhelming debut season as an Arsenal player.

Following his free transfer from London rivals Chelsea, the 32-year-old made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, netting just one goal.

It was rumoured that he was angling for a quick exit from the Emirates Stadium with two years remaining on his current deal. However, that has clearly not yet come to fruition with the two-time Premier League winner selected to start for the Gunners in their first pre-season clash.

Whether that remains the case between now and the start of the 2021/22 season remains to be seen.
