A hash brown product sold in Ireland has been recalled due to the possible presence of plastic pieces.

CO OP has issued a recall of its Frozen Hash Browns product over fears it contains pieces of white plastic.

The product subject to the food safety alert has a pack size of 700g and a best before date of July 2021.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said: "CO OP is recalling the above batch of its frozen hash browns, due to the possible presence of pieces of white plastic.

"Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch."
