Thousands of people have reported that video site YouTube was not working on Friday afternoon.

Downdetector, which allows internet users to self-report when a website isn’t working, recorded 265 reports in the UK of the site being down at 12pm.

But this spiked an hour later, with 3,291 logs submitted at 1:15pm. Across the rest of the world, there were nearly 10,800 reports.

Reuters reported that the video sharing site, which is owned by Alphabet, is now mostly back up and running.

Users reported trying to go on the platform but being met with an “Error 502” message.

YouTube has not officially commented on the outage or said what caused it. The company was contacted for a statement.
