Has Ranbir Kapoor's BRUTAL Animal fight scene been inspired by 'Oldboy' and 'The Punisher'?- WATCH

The recently released trailer of Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming film 'Animal' has left fans in shock and awe. Many were taken aback by the scenes of brutality depicted on-screen in the action scenes, seen consistently in the teaser, song and trailer. From the bloody axe fights in the corridors to gun fights, this action film ensures a bloodbath unlike any other.

While these brutal and bloody scenes may be a first-of-their kind in Bollywood, it's certainly not something fans of Hollywood and world cinema haven't seen before. In fact, after watching the much-talked-about trailer, fans of the 2003 South Korean film 'Oldboy' are claiming that the epic corridor scenes may have just been ripped from the film.

In the clips released so far, Ranbir is seen engaging in a fierce axe battle with masked men. This scene bears much similarity to the intense sequence in the film 'Oldboy' where Choi Min-sik's protagonist faces his armed opponents in a narrow hallway. The only difference between the two is that while one has an axe, the other uses a hammer to take down his opponents.

The parallels between the action scenes have given rise to rumours that the film's action choreography may have just been inspired by the South Korean film.

Interestingly, the film's many hallway action sequences also bear some resemblances to those seen in the Marvel series 'Daredevil' and 'The Punisher'.

In 'Daredevil', the hero, played by Charlie Cox is seen engaging in a fistfight with his opponents, armed with shotguns and flinging one out the door.

Another famously brutal and exceptionally bloody fight scene features in the hit anti-hero series 'The Punisher'. This one, in particular, features Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle stabbing and slicing through a bunch of criminals in jail. The fight comes to a close with Frank wounded and drenched in the blood of his victims, much like a closing scene featuring Kapoor's character lying on the floor surrounded by dead bodies.

Interestingly, both the stunt teams of 'Daredevil' and 'The Punisher' have admitted that fight scenes were influenced by 'Oldboy'.

That's not all, 'Oldboy' was previously remade in Bollywood as 'Zinda', starring Sanjay Dutt, and later in Hollywood by Spike Lee.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, 'Animal' is slated to release on December 1.
