Has Meghan Markle given birth? Royal editor reveals truth about baby claims

Pregnant Meghan Markle has not given birth in secret according to ITV News’ Royal Editor Chris Ship, amid rumours the Duchess of Sussex has welcomed her baby.

Meghan and Prince Harry are reportedly ready to welcome their baby boy or girl any day now, but recent rumours circulated that the couple had already welcomed their first child.

It comes amid reports that the birth, and news of the birth, will be “private”, with Meghan tipped to give birth at home.

With it revealed that Meghan will not welcome her child at the famous Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, and not greet the media and waiting crowds on the balcony like sister-in-law Kate Middleton, little has been confirmed about what the public will be told.

Bookies now believe Meghan Markle will give birth in May after Prince Harry's big 'clue'

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Friday, Chris was quick to squish rumours that the baby had arrived, but did tease fans didn’t have long to wait.

Asked if the rumours could be “discounted as nonsense”, he said: “Yeah, I think we can, there’s always stories… you don’t have to look very far on social media to find stories that they’ve made this pregnancy up and it’s all fake.

"Listen, all we can say is the birth is imminent, it is any day now. What they’re not telling us is, for perfectly understandable reasons, we have to be clear, I think as a nation we expect the royals to share their baby news and every step of it with us.

“However, as we know, Harry and Meghan have decided to keep a lot of this private.”

On the birth, he went on: “We don’t know if she is gonna have it at home, we think she’s gonna try to but we’re not sure whether she is.

“If she’s going to hospital then they’re not gonna tell us which hospital it’s at, and they’re gonna try to get her into hospital and back out before they’ve informed us where that location is.”

Chris added: “You won’t get that circus, we will be told when she’s comfortably in labour and when she’s given birth to a boy or girl, and there will be a photo call of sorts some days afterwards.

“Very small, very controlled, very much arranged by the Sussexs themselves.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
