Abuse against retail workers has soared in parts of the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
In what has been a challenging time for us all, it was revealed at the start of lockdown that shop staff have been bearing the brunt of public anger, with workers being verbally abused, threatened or assaulted every week.
Research by the Usdaw union saw that incidents had doubled from March through to April, up from once a fortnight at the same time last year.
One in six of the almost 5,000 workers that took part, said they had been abused on every shift, with 4% also having been assaulted.
