CHANDIGARH: Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala claimed on Sunday that even in adverse circumstances of Covid-19 pandemic, the state had attracted an invstment of Rs 28,000 crore, which had created many jobs. Chiefly, he mentioned Maruti Suzuki’s 900-acre automobile plant coming up at Kharkhoda.
Addressing a public meeting at Kharkhoda’s New Anaj Mandi, the deputy CM said Maruti will start manufacturing its first vehicle at Kharkhoda in 2025.
He said: “Suzuki will make motorcycles in 100 acres, while Maruti will make electric vehicles in 800 acres. The Maruti factory will employ 11,000 youth, while Suzuki’s bike unit will hire another 3,000. This is due to the state’s new law of 75% local quota in private-sector jobs.”
He said the Maruti-Suzuki plant will bring ancillary industry and more jobs in five years. “Kharkhoda will be on the international map and be developed on the lines of Gurgaon,” Dushyant said, adding that: “Farmers now get their payment on time, and so far, they had received about Rs 8,000 crore. The procurement of crops was to get over by May 15 but the mandis will stay open for procuring the last grain. All this purchase will be for minimum support price. Earlier, the compensation depended on girdawari by the patwari and given only if the damage was at least 25%. All this has changed.”
