CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police on Wednesday seized 7080 Indian Made Foreign Liquor bottles packed in 590 cartoons from two vehicles with Dak Parcel written on them in Sonipat district.
The liquor was being smuggled from Chandigarh to Uttar Pradesh. Two persons were also arrested in this connection.
Giving this information, police spokesperson informed that in the first case, a police team acting on a tip-off, impounded a container bearing Delhi registration number near Bhainswal village and seized 4,440 bottles (370 cartons) of IMFL.
Accused Sunil, a resident of district Sonipat, confessed that the seized liquor was being smuggled from Chandigarh to Uttar Pradesh.
In another incident, the police had recovered 2,640 IMFL bottles (220 cartons) from a pick-up vehicle parked within the Badota village area in the district. The accused arrested in this matter identified as Amit confessed that seized consignment was to be supplied from Chandigarh to UP.
A case was registered against the accused and further investigation is in progress.
