AMBALA: A man was allegedly stabbed to death while another was injured after being attacked by a group of people in Dadiana village in Ambala district on Thursday late night.
The deceased has been identified as Lovely of Dadiana village, while his friend Iqbal Singh alias Honey received injuries.
On the complaint of Lovely's cousin brother, Navdeep alias Deepu of Dadiana village, the police registered a case against seven people of the same village identified as Balram alias Chuchi, Vikas, Gulshan, Gautam, Sonu, Ramnath, and Rameshwar under Section 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ambala Sadar police station on Friday.
Three accused Balram, Gulshan and Gautam were arrested on Saturday, said Ambala Sadar police station house officer (SHO) inspector Munish Kumar. He said they would be produced in court on Sunday.
Navdeep stated to the police that at about 9.30 pm on Thursday, he was walking on the road with his relative Lucky, when he saw that a group of people were fighting at some distance.
"We rushed to the spot and saw that my uncle's son Lovely and his friend Iqbal Singh were being assaulted with knives and sharp weapons by Balram, Gulshan, Gautam, Sonu, Ramnath, Rameshwar. They attacked Iqbal with knives and pushed him into the pond. They kept attacking Lovely and he fell unconscious. The attackers fled the spot leaving Lovely behind in injured condition", said Navdeep.
Navdeep said both Lovely and Iqbal were attacked following an old rivalry.
Navdeep said they arranged a private car and took Lovely and Iqbal to civil hospital, Ambala City, where Lovely was declared dead by doctor. He said Iqbal was referred to GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh for treatment.
Ambala Sadar police station house officer (SHO) inspector Munish Kumar said that the dead body of deceased Lovely was handed over to his family members after post-mortem on Friday. Iqbal is undergoing treatment and he is out of danger, said the SHO.
SHO Munish said so far no arrests have been made and investigation is being done.
