KARNAL: A 22-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death at Dayanagar colony of Taraori in Karnal district on Monday night.
Police said that the deceased has been identified as Govind alias Kaku of Valmiki Basti in Taraori.
The family members alleged that Govind had an affair with a girl of Dayanagar. On Monday evening, the girl reportedly called him stating that her parents have agreed to their marriage and they have called him to meet them. When he went there, the family of the girl beat him up brutally. He was taken to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
After getting the information, Taraori SHO along with forensic experts reached the crime spot and collected the evidence.
Demanding the arrest of the accused, the youth’s family and relatives held a protest.
Police sources said that some suspects have been detained for questioning.
Sandeep Kumar, SHO, Taraori police station said that a case has been registered under sections 148, 149, and 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The body has been handed over to the deceased family members after the postmortem. The investigation is on and efforts are on to arrest the accused.
