CHANDIGARH: In a significant development, the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana police on Sunday arrested Raj Teatiya aka Raj Singh, the mastermind who would hack the computers of online examinations with servers, and his associate Sachin Kumar.
Raj Singh is a resident of Palwal and was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh announced by Haryana police. He had been a close associate of Robin, the suspended Delhi cop who is said to be the main culprit behind the online cheating racket in competitive examination. According to information, Raj Singh had been an expert in hacking examination servers and he had also roped in people from Russia, including a woman friend, for this purpose. Raj Singh himself had been frequenting Russia for this purpose.
“His involvement is found in almost all the examination leak and cheating cases. In some cases, he got the servers hacked for others for a cost. Hence, this is a major catch in past five and half months,” said Satish Deswal, DSP STF unit of Sonipat.
Referring to Sachin, Satish informed that Sachin had been partner with Robin Singh in the setting of computer laboratories which had been used for conducting the online examinations conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) where defense services, competitive examinations like NEET and JEE.
STF has identified 16 such examinations wherein this gang has been involved for the past five years. According to investigating agency, there are 70 such persons, who include coordinators, hackers, solvers, forwarders etc who have been identified so far. With these two arrests, the total arrests in this case has gone to 25. This excludes the students and beneficiaries who had been arrested by STF so far.
