Pinjore-Kalka history
Since British rule, Kalka and Pinjore were municipal committees. They were made a council in 1995 and in 2010, were merged in Panchkula to form a municipal corporation based on their combined population.
On July 6, 2020, the Haryana cabinet passed a decision to bifurcate Kalka and Pinjore from the Panchkula MC and formed a joint municipal council of Kalka and Pinjore. Senior leaders opposed this decision as funds and chances of development were less in a council as compared to the corporation.
